I met Yomi through his cousin; Shola at the University of South Florida, during our junior year. Yomi, came to Tampa from Kansas with this New York swag and style that rubbed off on me. Soon I was dressing like him in baggy sports jerseys with matching New era hats. He even used to lend me his hats, but then I cut my afro and then realized that my head was several inches less than Yomi's.
Yomi, his cousins; Shola and Tope, myself and the other fellas from Tampa got to be a close nit group with several similarities like barbecuing, illegally modifying playstation consoles and playing FIFA video games, but one thing we could not agree with him on, was his love for Kansas City Chiefs football team. We couldn't understand his love and commitment to such a then horrible football club. However, we now see his perseverance is paying off. And that's how Abayomi Shobowale perseveres when he commits to something great, in this case a lifetime of marriage to Eji. I know you'll be an awesome husband. Thanks for all your many kindness over the years. We can't wait to celebrate at you guys' wedding.
I first knew about Eji when Yomi said to me: yo Ehinomen, e get this kele wey I like oo, she dey from una side. She be una people. Like if I was supposed to have some insight for him from being from the same tribe as Eji. However, I knew the young grasshopper was on the right path. I saw pictures of Eji on Yomi's facebook page, but actually met her at my wedding in 2012. She was as sweet as can be. Kind even to join my wife and I for our big day and to keep her man safe from any misguided bachelorette with an eye for her future husband. Signs of a very wise woman. I wish all the best in your union and pray God blesses you with every good and wonder blessing.
